An undergraduate of the Delta State Polytechnic, Patrick Ifada, has told police in Lagos that he led an 8-man gang who specialises in kidnapping for ransom. Ifada, 23, was arrested in Lagos, after leading the kidnap of one Sadat Usman Bibire in Warri, Delta State. The kidnap victim is a daughter of an aide to Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, and also a beauty queen. Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Kayode Aderanti, told journalists how the a special anti-robbery squad smashed the gang. Ifada, the police said, impersonated the chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and on pretence promised Bibire of making her brand ambassador of Dangote Noodles. He, later, invited her to Warri, where she was kidnapped by the gang. Ifada and his cohorts demanded from Bibire’s father a ransom of N20 million, which must be paid into an account in Malaysia before she could be released. The police said some members of the gang are on the run.
