The London airspace is closed due to a computer failure, Eurocontrol tweeted on Friday. London's Heathrow airport said the closure is due to a power outage that is not necessarily mutually exclusive.
The airspace will be closed until 19:00 UTC, or 2:00 p.m. ET, Eurocontrol said on its website.
UK air traffic control service provider NATS posted on its website that "a technical problem has been reported at Swanwick air traffic control centre."
The provider apologized for delays and said its response team was on the case. Nearly all the flights over London have landed, while the rest appear on their way to Heathrow.
