The Federal High Court in Abuja, on Tuesday, adjourned indefinitely a suit filed by the Speaker, House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, against the the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, seeking to declare the seat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which is seeking to declare his (Tambuwal’s) seat vacant for defecting to the All Progressives Congress, APC. The presiding judge, Ahmed Mohammed, predicated his reason on the pendency of an appeal by a group of lawmakers from Sokoto State, who were disallowed from joining the suit as interested parties. The lawmakers were Abdussamad Dasuki, representing Tambuwal East; Suleiman Hantsi (Tambuwal West) and Shuaibu Umar (Kebbe Constituency). Others who equally asked to be joined as respondents against the PDP were people of Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency of Sokoto State, led by the Chairman of Kebbe Local Government Area, Bala Konkani, and Chairman of Tambuwal Local Government Area, Sambo Modo?. The lawmakers have since told the court that removing Tambuwal as Speaker would rob them of representation in the House of Representatives.
