A 26-year old man has been remanded in prison custody at Kikiri Prisons for slapping a woman who denied him sex. The suspect, Aliu Baba, allegedly assaulted Ogechi Nduka after he demanded sex from her and she refused. The incident happened at Jakande Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos, where the suspect and victim reside. Baba allegedly hit her on the chin and before tearing her jeans trousers. The matter was was reported at the Ejigbo Police Division and Baba was arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrate's court on a three-count charged of assault, attempted rape and willful damage. This medium gathered that trouble started after Ogechi turned down Baba's proposition for sex on the excuse that she had just returned from a vigil at the church. Baba kept pleading, but his plea did not bring about a change of mind. He later took matter into his own hands, slapping Ogechi and tearing her trousers. Ogechi raised an alarm that attracted neighbours. On arraignment, Baba pleaded not guilty. The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.B. Folami, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison pending when he will perfect his bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 29 December.
