The Nigerian Police Force has arrested and paraded a couple, Kelvin Igah and Ogechi Igah and Kelvin's younger brother, Victor Igah for kidnapping a man identified as Fashola Hammed in Lagos State.The suspects, who confessed to carrying out the crime were arrested at 18 Odeniyi Ishola Street, off Bola Road, Isheri Oshun. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti said they were able to make the arrest following a tip-off.
Aderanti informed that the gang had been kidnapping people without the residents being unaware until operatives from the State Anti-Robbery Squad; SARS raided the house and rescued the victim.
Aderanti stated that he got information that Hammed was kidnapped. Aderanti disclosed that when the gang started asking for ransom he instructed his men to go after them. The suspects in their confessional statement said they always keep the victims in their toilet until a ransom is paid. Kelvin admitted that it was his gang, who kidnapped two oil magnates, Chief Idowu Coker and Hammed. Aderanti disclosed that Coker paid N20 million and was freed..
According to the police boss ''Hammed was still in chains in the toilet and they were demanding N50 million before the police arrested them.'' Other members of the gang are now at large and the police is on their trail.
