Joseph Edoigiawerie, spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, on Friday, said the suspects were apprehended at their hideout, along Uwa Street, in the Oredo Local Government Area of the state, following a tip-off.
“A search conducted on them led to the recovery of two locally-made guns, two live cartridges and some charms from the suspects,” Edoigiawerie said. The police stated that the suspects confessed they were on a mission before their arrest. Aside the three robbers, the command said it was on the trail of two others. The fleeing robbers were said to have abandoned the vehicle they were travelling in upon sighting a police patrol van. The police said it had received a distress call on suspicious movement of the two strange men.
“The policemen on routine patrol at Oluku were informed about the suspicious movements of two men seated in a Cordoba car with registration number AG 678 AKA,’’ the command said. Recovered from the abandoned car were one locally-made single-barrel gun, 13 live cartridges, one Army camouflage cap and three wraps of substances suspected to be Marijuana.
Edoigiawerie said they were on the trail of the escapee robbers.
