The choice of a running mate to Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, may be for former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu to make. Feelers from the party said the concession granted Tinubu to nominate a person to the post was to compensate him for his efforts at influencing delegates, especially from the south-west states, to vote Buhari at the convention. Those touted to have been shortlisted for the post are Edo and Rivers States Governors, Adams Oshiomole and Rotimi Amaechi respectively; former Attorney General of Lagos State, Yemi Osibajo, former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.
The Cable, a news portal, in a report favoured Oshiomole for the post. The Cable said a chieftain of the party from the south-west confided in it that Oshiomole was the odds-on favorite among the candidates. This is contrary to media speculation that Amaechi had been picked for the position. The party has up till 18 December to submit a name to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
