The criteria for knowing who to kidnap for Austin Arikpo, 25, Abdulraman Adamu, 22 and Iwelalor Chilota, aka Owolabi, was the appearances and the type of cars their would-be victims drive. This in mind, the three suspects swooped on a certain Henry Christian while driving a Murano Nissan Sports Utility Vehicle and abducted him at Madalla, in Suleija Local Council Area of the state.
Two of the suspects – Austin Arikpo and Abdulraman Adamu – have since 16 December been nabbed by the police, while the gang’s leader Chilota is on the run.
Niger Police Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Gambari, Wednesday, narrated how Chilota had invited Arikpo from Ogun State to carry out the crime.
After seizing Henry at gun point, Gambari said the suspects forced him into the Honda Accord car they used for the operation. The police said a locally-made double-barrelled gun, one Dane gun, four knives, 25 expended cartridges and two screw drivers, among others things, were recovered from the suspects.
