President Goodluck Jonathan, on Saturday, appealed to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members, who are aggrieved over the outcomes of the various primaries held by the party. Speaking at the PDP fundraisers held at the presidential villa, Jonathan assured the affected members that the party was already working to resolve the “outstanding issues.” He pleaded with the discontent members to “remain committed and stay with the party.” President Jonathan said “I know other parties are wooing some of you to contest elections on their platforms, but if you believe in democracy then you will contribute to strengthen it. The only way you can strengthen democracy is for you to stay in your party.” Jonathan added: “If out of anger or frustration, you leave the party because you didn’t get what you wanted, then you are not contributing to the growth of democracy.” Many influential members of the PDP have fallen out of love for the party over the many controversial results of the primaries. A total of N21.27 billion was realised at the fundraisers, which attracted party bigwigs, financial and investment moguls, oil and gas magnates, among others. The event was chaired by the Managing Director/CEO of Sky Bank, Tunde Ayeni.
