A former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has put a lie to the insinuation by the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Professor Wale Oladipo, that moves were on to bring him and others back into the party fold. Atiku, formerly of the PDP, quitted the party alongside other chieftains and five governors to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The clarification, the Punch reported, came from Atiku's media aide, Garba Shehu, who said, "There is no iota of truth in such claims. It is not only false, it is malicious and a product of the futile imaginations of those peddling it.” Shehu called linking his principal with his former party as mischievous.
Another name Oladipo said was being wooed was Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwanso.
A fierce critic of President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP, Kwankwanso, himself a PDP turncoat, denied such move. Baba Dantiye, Director of Press and Public Relations to Kwankwanso, said the statement merely showed the PDP's "desperation", stating that the governor "is presently APC’s candidate for Kano Central Senatorial District."
