Boko Haram: Heavy Fighting Continues In Damaturu

Fighting between federal troops and insurgents in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe, has reportedly intensified. The terrorist group had only 12 hours ago launched a ferocious attack on the town, killing, maiming and destroying property. Punch, quoting a military source, said heavy fighting continued throughout the night, but no mention was made of the casualty figure.
The paper said unconfirmed report had it that over 200 boko haram militants were killed while attempting to invade neighbouring Adamawa State through Askira-Uba, a border town between Borno and Adamawa.
“They wanted to enter Adamawa through Askira-Uba, but ran into the waiting arms of the troops which killed about 200 of them,” the newspaper's source was quoted as saying.
