A couple were among suspects arrested over a robbery incident that took place at Araromi Estate, in the Ijoko area of Ogun State. The couple, Amache and Seun Augustine, according to the police, led two other gang members, Taiwo Dada and Ezekiel Alawode, to rob residents of the estate. Until they became informants to the robbers, Amache, a bricklayer, and his wife, were also residents of the estate.
The police stated that Dada and Alawode were arrested at about 9.30 p.m on 17 January, robbing residents of Santos Crescent, in the estate. They were arrested by members of the local vigilantes, and named the estate’s gatekeeper as their collaborator.
The police said a locally-made pistol was recovered from the robbers by the vigilantes, who subsequently handed them to the police.
