Crude Oil Thieves Are Jonathan’s Friends – Aregbesola

Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Friday in Akure, Ondo State, alleged those stealing the country's crude are President Goodluck Jonathan's friends. The governor berated Jonathan for being incompetent in stopping the theft and inability to account for $14.6billion oil proceeds between July 2013 and July 2014.
Aregbesola spoke during a political awareness  rally, tagged Walk for Change, in which the Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo attended.
“$40m worth of crude oil is being stolen everyday amounting to $14.6bn since 2013 even when the contract to protect the oil pipelines has been given to ex-militant, Tompolo,” the governor said.
Aregbesola said it was inexcusable that the president being the commander-in-chief of the country's armed forces couldn't effectively tackle the menace.
He said the worth of crude stolen in the last one year could pay revenue allocation to all the states of the federation for four years.
“The amount that has been stolen in the last one year is N2.2 trillion when converted to the Naira, the money is enough to bring development to the states of the federation who are groaning under shortage of allocation to states," the governor stated.
Aregbesola alleged the president's cronies were actually the ones behind the crude oil theft, while he urged Nigerians to vote change to ensure accountability and developments in the country.
On his part, Osinbajo hinted his party had put in a place a social security scheme for the elderly which would be implemented if they won the election.
“There are many people who do not know yet that we have the first social security scheme in Africa that the elderly who are poor and the very poor, will begin to earn a monthly income,” he said.
Osinbajo promised an APC-led federal government would adopt the  school feeding programme being done in Osun State for all school children, while ensuring security of lives.
Ondo APC Chairman, Isaac Kekemeke, said the large turnout of people for rally indicated they were ready to vote Buhari in next month presidential election, and promised to deliver the three senatorial seats, nine House of Representatives seats and 26 house of assembly seats to the party in the forthcoming elections.
Party bigwigs at the rally included  Speaker of the Osun state House of Assembly, Najeem Salam, Dada Eminence, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, Dr. Benson Enikuomehin, Chief Tayo Alasoadura and Fola Olaseinde among others.
