Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has denied the purported rift between him and the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, which was said to be the reason for relieving a commissioner and another aide of their appointments, on Monday.
The men were the former Commissioner for Local Government, Marie Ebikake, and the Special Adviser on Special Projects, Remmy Kuku, both Patience Jonathan’s allies.
In a statement by his media aide, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, Dickson on Tuesday said the allegation of a rift between them was trivial, misrepresented facts and a deliberate propagation of falsehood by mischief makers.
Dickson said the cabinet reshuffle was not the first and would not be the last to be done by his administration, saying it was done to “ensure a more robust delivery of the dividends of democracy to Bayelsans.”
He said the administration over three years needed the exercise to create more impacts on the lives of the people of the state. “And, this was well captured in the Government statement announcing the changes: In furtherance of his commitment to deliver more robustly on its administration’s restoration agenda, Governor Seriake Dickson has stepped up efforts geared towards re-organizing the machinery of the government,” the statement said.
