Taiwo Lakanu, police commissioner for Ekiti State, has disproved claims of sporadic shootings at the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress at Ajilosun, in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. The disapproval was necessitated by the political party’s assertion that some gunmen driven in four Hilux Pick-Up vehicles invaded its secretariat, destroyed its candidates’ posters, billboards, and shot arbitrarily during their siege.
The police chief, Lakanu said “I don’t think there was sporadic shooting there”, a Punch report quotes.
Olatunbosun in the statement sighted by Newsbreak.NG explained that the streetlights in the area its secretariat is located were put out before the attackers arrived.
“Shortly before they arrived, streetlights along Ajilosun Street where the APC secretariat is located were switched off. The hoodlums wounded the security man at the gate of the APC office,” the statement read. Olatunbuson accused the state governor, Ayodele Fayose of being behind the incident. He also accused the governor of planning to hold a parallel congress at the Fajuyi Park to coincide with his party’s presidential rally in the state, a situation he said violate a section of the Electoral Act.
