IG Orders CPs To Secure Arms, Banks

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba Thursday gave a directive to all Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Commissioners of Police at State Commands to ensure that arms and ammunition at the various stations and formations are secured.

To Abba, security of arms and ammunitions will ward off possible attempt by hoodlums armed robbers to attack police stations and other installations; this was contained in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu.

The IGP in the statement directed CPs to beef up security at banks within their jurisdictions and to further collaborate with bank authorities and officials to secure their premises.

The IG enjoined members of the public to collaborate with officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF to curb crimes adding that the police is determined to make the nation safe and secure for Nigerians and foreigners  to go about their normal businesses.

Abba had earlier ordered an audit of police armouries nationwide in order to secure arms and ammunition and ensure safety and security in the country.
