A powerful hybrid security network has been built around Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, and its environs ahead of President Goodluck Jonathan’s presidential rally slated for Saturday. Sources confirmed heavier deployment of soldiers, men of the Department of State Security, among others. President Jonathan tested the waters of Maiduguri on the Armed Forces Remembrance Day a forthnight ago, by visiting to military base there. The visit was purported to be a ‘surprise’ one, but revelations later emerged it was pre-arranged. newsbreak.ng gathered Jonathan was advised by his political strategists to make a non-political appearance to the state other than a campaign visit. It was also the first since the insurgency took roots in the state, where over 200 school girls were abducted from their dormitories by Boko Haram insurgents over seven months ago.
