Man Who ‘Won’ £330,000 On Lottery Told His Ticket Is A Misprint

A man John Wines in New Mexico thought he had won a £330,000 jackpot with an instant lottery ticket – but when he handed it to claim his win, officials told him his ticket was a misprint.

A blocked ink jet had led to one number on the ticket printing wrongly. A scan of the ticket’s barcode showed that the $20 ticket for the Ruby 7s game wasn’t a winner – and officials told Wines that the ticket machine must have been defective, and they could not pay out.

”I mean, if you thought you won $500,000 and somebody tells you that you didn’t, and you can prove to them you did, it’s pretty stressful for somebody to say, ‘No you’re not getting your money,’’ Wines said.
