Rivers PDP Consoles APC Over Destruction Of Party Office

The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State on Monday expressed sadness over the destruction of the APC office in Okirika, Rivers State. The party in a statement by the Special Adviser to the State Chairman of the PDP, Jerry Needam, asked "security agencies to ensure perpetrators of such needless action are brought to book."
The PDP said it "believes that whoever carried out such reckless act may have done it out of ill-conceived motive, not germane to democratic principles, appealing to all politicians to play politics with love, tolerance and fairness."
Needam said, “The PDP also frowns at the early statement credited to the APC guber candidate, Mr. Dakuku Peterside, alleging that PDP supporters were responsible for the action." The PDP viewed Peterside’s allegation as premature, irresponsible, inciting and least expected of the calibre of person he claims to be."
The PDP put the incident down at members of the APC which it said were disgruntled over the emergence of Peterside as the party's governorship candidate for next month's election. The party asked the police to conduct extensive investigation into the incident and track down "APC members destroying its campaign materials and those of the party’s gov candidate, Chief Nyesom Wike.”
