Rudi Voller Director of Sport of Bayer Leverkusen believes Bayern Munich cannot be displaced at the top of the Bundesliga, predicting a perennial battle for second place behind the Bavarians. Bayern have won the last two league titles and are on course for a third in a row, and Voller fears nobody is ever going to be able to challenge them. “The gap to Bayern is never going to be closed again, you can scout as well as you want, but you’re never going to get into a position where you can be even near to being on at par with them. There are just worlds lying in between,” Voller told Kicker magazine. Bayern appear to have got even stronger after their record-breaking treble-winning season under Jupp Heynckes in 2012/13, with coach Pep Guardiola making them tactically unpredictable and unbeatable in the league this season. They go into the second half of the campaign with an 11-point cushion over second-placed Wolfsburg, while Voller’s Leverkusen are a further six points behind in third, battling like the rest of the league for positions behind the Bavarians.
