Two US journalists have been shot and killed during a live television broadcast in Virginia by a gunman who remains on the loose.
Alison Parker, 24, and Adam Ward, 27, a reporter and cameraman for CBS, were fatally shot at 6.45am in Moneta, Virginia, Franklin County Sheriff confirmed.
They were covering a live feature story at the time of the incident, said local station WDBJ7.
Schools in the local area have been closed.
The video of the shooting shows Ms Parker conducting an interview n ear Moneta's Bridgewater Plaza before shots ring out and the camera falls to the floor as shrieks are heard.
The footage reverts to the studio, where the television station's anchor is clearly shocked and unaware of what has happened.
The video also showed man in dark clothing who appeared to be holding a gun.
The gunman, who is believed to be male, fired "several" shots before fleeing the scene
