Aisha Buhari, the wife of the president, has expressed concern over reduction in the number of female legislators in Nigeria. She spoke on Sunday in Abuja at a reception organised by the committee of friends in honour of former Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state.
The first lady said men should support and encourage women to occupy key elective positions in the country. She commended former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu, for the support given to his wife, Sen. Oluremi in winning a senatorial seat in Lagos and urged men to emulate him by encouraging their wives to vie for elective positions come 2019.She also commended Amaechi on his role in the triumph of the APC in the 2015 elections.
