Femi Falana, a lawyer, has denied praising former President Goodluck Jonathan’s anti-corruption fight. There are reports he did so while appearing on Channels Television programme. But, in his statement, on Wednesday, Falana, a senior advocate, said people saying so are out to discredit him and the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari at fighting corruption. He attributed the report to “some misguided fellows” who have attempted to link him “with the forces of corruption that are fighting back in the country. “I never made such a stupid statement. Hence, the “suggestion” ascribed to me is grossly misleading and downright dishonest”, Falana stated. He challenged those who claimed he said so to produce the video clips of the programme where he did. He said he only made in a passing the recovery of $970 million by the Jonathan administration from late head of state, Sani Abacha. He also admitted saying the former president sacked three of his ministers as regards to corruption.
