The Nigerian contingent at Anfield is about to increase with the planned signing of Nigerian youngster Taiwo Awoniyi by Liverpool. Awoniyi, 17, is said to have chosen Liverpool ahead of the likes of Porto and AS Monaco.
Awoniyi plays for Kalmar FF in the Swedish league and the 17-year-old Nigerian youth international is a highly-rated forward. He turns 18 tomorrow and it's said that he will celebrate his birthday by signing a contract at Anfield..
It is also reported that Liverpool will loan the youngster straight out to a club in the Netherlands or Belgium in order to solve any work permit issues the youngster could have.
The Reds have bolstered their youth ranks this summer with the signings of 16-year-old Bobby Adekanye, 17-year-old Brooks Lennon and 18-year-old Allan Rodrigues de Souza. Sheyi Ojo, another Nigerian on the club's books, is on loan at Wolves.
