A lobby group, comprising some senators loyal to senate president Bukola Saraki, have met President Muhammadu Buhari, hoping to resolve the lukewarm relationship between them, a report stated. The report by TheNation named the peace movers as: the senate leader, Ali Ndume; Senators Adamu Aliero, Danjuma Goje, Kabiru Gaya and Abdullahi Adamu, among others. They were said to have met and begged the president last Thursday at the presidential villa, in Abuja. Quoting a source privy to the meeting, the report said the president though gave an audience to the senators, he was however non-committal to their cause. “These Senators, comprising mainly of some former governors came to explore peace between the Presidency and the Senate. “Obviously, the Senators were subtly running an errand for Saraki. I think their trip was a consequence of the Abdulsalami Peace Committee’s meeting with Saraki,”said the source. The report also said another source among those who met the president said “we are doing everything to reconcile the President and the Senate President and other stakeholders in APC to move forward. There is no point pretending. The President and some APC leaders have been unhappy with the Senate President. We cannot allow the crisis of confidence to fester. This is why we decided to intervene.” The lobby group is reportedly planning to meet the party influencer and former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu, as part of their reconciliation drive.
