Two men were on Thursday arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrate's Court in Lagos for allegedly stabbing a football fan. The men are Akinbo Toyin, a 29-year old printer and Adekunle Olaniyan, a barber of the same age. Both reside in Alagbado, a suburb of Lagos. They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault. The prosecutor, Donjor Perezi, told the court that the offences were committed on 8 August 8 at a football viewing centre at Amikanle, Alagbado, Lagos.
According to him, a fight ensued at the viewing centre, following an argument and the accused stabbed one Abayomi Akapo, on the neck, head and jaw, causing him a very deep injury.
"The victim was rescued by people at the centre, who quickly rushed him to the hospital, else he would have died,’’ he said.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Magistrate, Miss O.A. Akinde, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100, 000 each, with two sureties each in like sum, and adjourned the case to 28 September.
