A young Nigerian singer, Skiibii Mayana, is thought to have faked his death for publicity sake. Lindaikeji.blogspot.com broke the news of the singer’s death, but recanted later. The blogger said she was inundated of Skiibii’s death by his label mate, Harry Songz.
“The source (Songz) said he’d dressed up and was going for his media rounds today when he suddenly fell and was unable to be revived”, the blogger, Linda Ikeji wrote. She also claimed to have checked with the artiste manager, Soso Soberekon, who confirmed the news to her.
The death news would later be dispelled by Skiibii’s ‘Five Star Records’ owner, Kcee, who reportedly called from Europe. Kcee, the story says, said Skiibii is revived and Ikeji wospitalised.
But Ikeji believes she was snookered into publishing Skiibii’s death just to attract lavish attention.
“If this is a stunt (Skiibii dropped a video just yesterday), then it’s quite sad that they would go to this extent to make him known to Nigerians. I know a lot of Nigerian artists put up stunts, but to play with your life is sick! Extremely sick to fake your own death for fame and attention! But if it’s not a stunt and he indeed woke from the dead, then I’m very happy for him”, wrote.
