President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed himself as Minister of Petroleum Resources. He made this known while addressing a Global Leaders' Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism. According to him, he made this decision as part of his effort to sanitise Nigeria's oil industry which is believed to be hindered by corruption. He said that his mission remains to sanitise the industry and rid it of corruption. He also said that the prosecution of those found guilty of mismanaging NNPC's revenue under the past administration would commence soon.
