President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the donation of 20 Hilux vans to Burkina Faso.
The pledge, which was made in march, is aimed at aiding Burkina Faso in its elections coming up in october.
Bulus Lolo, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented the cars to the electoral president of the country in the capital, Ouagadougou.
Lolo had said, at the presentation of the vehicles, that the donation was to assist Burkina Faso with logistics for the forthcoming polls.
“No matter how difficult it is, democracy brings the expression and the will of the people to bear in governance.
“If it worked in Nigeria, it can work in Burkina Faso.
“It is important to include all the stakeholders, respect the rule of law, allow the electorate to cast their votes and let the votes count.
“All these will lead to the success of the elections,” he added.
Barthelemy Kere, President, Commission Electorate Nationale Independent of Burkina Faso, received the vehicles on behalf of his country.
Kere , who stated that Nigeria was the first and only country to have assisted them thus far,commended Nigeria for the gesture, stressing that the vehicles will be used effectively.
