Egypt Suspends Islamic Cleric For Saying “Prayer Better Than Facebook”

crescentEgypt’s Ministry for Religious Affairs has suspended an Islamic cleric, accused of altering the Muslim call to prayer, AFP reported. Mohmud al-Moghazi, the said cleric, was reported by villagers in Beheira province north of Cairo, to have replaced the refrain: “Prayer is better than sleep” with “Prayer is better than Facebook”. But the cleric dismissed the allegation as false, blaming the Muslim Brotherhood of masterminding the falsehood. The ministry’s head, Sabri Ebada, said the “case will be referred to the prosecution service which will see that the law is applied”.
