Nigeria remained unmoved at number 53 in the latest FIFA rankings for the month of September released on Thursday.
The rankings means Nigeria is ninth in Africa behind Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Tunisia, Senegal, Congo, Cameroon and Egypt.
Algeria, ranked as best in Africa, is nineteenth in the world with 955 points. Cote d”Ivoire, second, and twenty first in the world. Ghana remains third on the continent and twenty seventh in the world.
The Super Eagles’ AFCON qualifier opponent for Saturday’s game, Taifa Stars of Tanzania, remain one hundred and fortieth in the world.
Germany, however, lost their top spot as they moved two places down to be ranked third. Argentina tops the list with Belgium behind in the second position. Colombia and Brazil are in fourth and fifth positions respectively to make up the top five teams in the world.
