Ghana Suspends 22 Corrupt Judges, More To Go – Report

ghana judgesAbout 22 corrupt Circuit and Magistrate judges are said to have been suspended by the Ghanaian Judicial Council, based on an investigation ordered by the country’s chief justice, Georgina Theodora Woode. The report by Peacefmonline said 34 judges have been indicted in corrupt practices and their deed to be aired on the television on 22 September. This, the reported stated, is exclusive of actions being taken to determine if 12 High Court judges are guilty of the corrupt allegations leveled against them.
The report said the petition against the affected judges sparked an emergency meeting of the highest judiciary body on 2 September. In its public statement, the judicial council assures the public “no one will be spared appropriate sanctions where culpability is established.”
