Lagos government says it is considering sanctioning street sweepers who dump refuse into the drains, thereby causing flood. Abimbola Jijoho-Ogun, general manager in charge ofAdministration and and Special Duties, at the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), said this. She said roller bins and bins bags have been provided the sweepers to use while working.  "In LAWMA, we do not condone bad practices by sweepers while discharging their duties as trying to play pranks can cause environmental hazards". She  urged residents to report sweepers dumping refuse into the drains. LAWMAJijoho-Ogun also said the clearing of drains is the responsibility of the drain-dock under the Ministry of Environment, Department of Drainage Maintenance and Operations or the local government council workers.
