A 23-year-old man, Craig Greve, has been sentenced to five-and-a-half-years in prison after his American Bulldog killed his grandmother. Reports say that the dog had attacked the woman when she went to answer the door. It was said to have bitten her sixteen times in her ribs, face and neck in what has been described by the Wales Police as the first ever attack of its kind in South Wales. Craig was said to have been banned from keeping the dog in 2012. His grandmother's death, according to findings, could have been averted if the ambulance had not taken 98 minutes to respond to the distress call. South Wales Police's dog legislation officer, Walter Pennell, urged dog owners to seek professional advice if their pets show any sign of violence.
