Motorcyclist Docked For Injuring Pedestrian


A 25-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Kunle Akinlure, was on Friday arraigned in an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State over alleged dangerous driving and injuring one Temitope Omotayo. The prosecutor, Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused was docked on charges bordering on dangerous driving, driving without driver’s licence and driving an unregistered motorcycle on public highway. He alleged that the accused on Sept. 1, around 3.00p.m. along Okitipupa-Ore Road, recklessly drove an unregistered Qlink motorcycle without a driver’s licence. The prosecutor said that the accused hit Omotayo from behind, while he sustained several degrees of injuries. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Banji Ayeomoni Omotayo granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with a surety in like sum, and adjourned the case till Sept. 28 for further hearing. He also ordered the accused to foot the hospital bills incurred by the victim.
