Police Arraign Housemaid For Stealing Foreign, Local Currencies, Jewelry

handcuffs_key_unlockPatience Agi, a housemaid, stole some foreign and local currencies, and jewelry, on 27 August, from her boss, who resides in Ikoyi area of Lagos, a court heard. Police Prosecutor, Philip Osijale, an inspector, said Agi's accomplices have fled. Osijale said the stolen hard currencies were 1,000 dollar and 1,300 Euros, as well as jewelry estimated at about N628,500. The police told the Igbosere Magistrate Court, where Agi is being tried, that she committed stealing and conspiracy. The accused pleaded not guilty, after which the Magistrate, Martins Owunmi, admitted her to a bail bond of N100, 000 with two sureties, one of whom must be Agi's blood relation. The relative must also show evidence of tax payment, the magistrate stated. The case was adjourned till 15 September.
