The four-year-old, Tope Ogundeyi, and her parents had slept in the church the previous night, before she was declared missing in the morning. The congregants believed a thief had come into the church while they slept because two mobile phones belonging to the missing child’s father, and another owned by a member were missing, too.
The girl’s father, Olumide Ogundeyi, said he had come from Ijoko, in Sango, Ogun state to attend a programme in the church, and also pray over his ill-health. He was optimistic his daughter would be found. The PUNCH reported Patricia Amadin, the Lagos Police spokeswoman, as confirming the pastor’s arrest and that “efforts are being intensified” to find the missing child.
