UTME Centres Must Have 250 Computers Each, Power Supply – JAMB

jambThe Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said designated Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination centres across the country must have 250 computers each and stable power supply. Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB public relations officer, said over 600 facilities have been inspected nationwide for the purpose of verifying their suitability for the conduct of the 2016 Computer Based Test (CBT). Benjamin said over 1, 000  centres will be inspected in all.

“The computer centres must be integrated with the local area network and there must equally be a high and accessible security in and around such centres,” Benjamin said. He added that the centres are to have reliable servers to enable JAMB send its questions from the headquarters to various centres, since it was not using the public servers.

He called for more public and private partnership in the area of establishing well-equipped centres in schools or elsewhere for the purpose of the examination.
