Scans have shown that a 48-year-old Chinese woman, identified as Ms Liu, has a two-inch needle lodged in her brain. Liu had gone to a hospital in eastern China for a thorough check after her 46-year-old headaches kept recurring. Doctors in the Huaibei Miners General Hospital had noticed the metal detectors of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine kept going off each time she was being put in it. This made the doctors order an x-ray scan after which the needle was found in her skull. Further findings revealed the needle had been there for at least 46 years. Liu has agreed to surgery, despite its high risks, to remove the needle.
