Many people are feared dead as a bomb blast rocked a newly opened Friday mosque in Jambutu area of Yola in Adamawa state. The blast, suspected to be from a suicide bomber, occurred at about 2:00pm shortly after the Imam of the mosque concluded reading the sermon for the Juma'at prayer. An eye witness, who simply identified himself as Umaru, said the bomb went off when a boy was attempting to enter the mosque. Police spokesman, Othman Abubakar confirmed the incident and said rescue efforts was still on going and the injured are being taken to Yola Specialist Hospital and Federal Medical Centre. He also said casualty figures were yet to be determined.
