Research by the American Heart Association has shown that eating more home-cooked meals could reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
According to the study, those who ate two homemade meals, lunch or dinner, per day had a 13% lower risk of getting the disease. Eating homemade meals was also associated with less overall weight gain in middle-aged and older health professionals. Researchers looked at data from nearly 58,000 women in the Nurses' Health Study and from more than 41,000 men in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study. The results of the report were presented at the Association's Scientific Sessions 2015 in Orlando, Florida.
