Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has been denied bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja. His two co-accused were also denied bail. Justice John Tsoho held that the accused were not entitled to bail as they could not convince the court that they would not continue the crime for which they stood trial for. Tsoho said the fac that he was a citizen of both Nigeria and Britain made it possible for him to jump bail. He also ruled that the defence had only went on to insist that their agitation for Biafra was within their right rather than oppose the prosecution's opposition to their bail application.
The justice, however, ordered an accelerated hearing of the case. He ordered that the accused persons be returned to Kuje Prison and should remain there throughout their trial. He adjourned the case till 9-12 February for trial.
