Out-of-power Peoples Democratic Party leadership have launched a search for former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu in order to make him the party chairman, a report said. Premium Times claimed Ribadu deliberately went underground and has remained incommunicado for some days. Ribadu’s media aide Abdulaziz Abdulaziz was reported as saying he had neither seen his boss since two days ago nor knew his whereabouts. The opposition party has been holding marathon meetings, spearheaded by its governors, aimed at selecting a chairman from the north-east region of Nigeria, which Ribadu’s Adamawa is part of. The report attributed Ribadu’s unwillingness to PDP’s battered image following revelations of huge financial corruption by the party’s leaders and its former officials in the last government. The report said Ribadu’s fear that his radical disposition might conflict with the ways of the party leaders.
