A 20-year-old woman, Sophie Butler has been jailed for six years and three months for stabbing her lover, Norasab Hussain to death. Hussain was said to have called her a whore for talking to another man last May in a voicemail he sent to her mum. She pleaded guilty to the charge but was found to be suffering from depression and post-traumatic disorder as a result of repeated domestic abuse. The conditions are together known as ‘battered woman syndrome’.
Police said the couple had left the town centre in a taxi and travelled to Butler’s flat where the dispute continued before Hussain sent the said message. She grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her boyfriend of two years through the chest, fatally penetrating his heart.
