Doctors in Ogun State have commenced a one week warning strike to get the attention of the state government on issues affecting the health system of the state. The doctors under the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners said the governor, Ibikunle Amosun, had been deaf to their demands of a better health system in the state.

In a communique signed by its chairman, Dr. Oladunni Adetola and secretary, Dr. Adetonwa Festus, they pleaded to Amosun to restructure health facilities, address the issue of shortage of staff, lack of materials, equipment and good working environment to ensure an effective health sector. They said there had been no recruitment in the sector in the last three years despite increasing burden on the sector. They berated the government for disrespecting a circular the federal government had circulated since 2013 mandating that the corrected CONMESS payment to correct a 20 year error on doctors salaries be made.
