A Nigerian senator has called Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote an ‘economic predator and parasite’ over his call for sale of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas, NLNG.
Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna, urged Nigerians to resist the ‘heist’ and ‘roguery’ in his Facebook post.
“They don’t want to buy Ajaokuta steel company because it’s not profitable; they don’t want to invest in solid minerals, Agriculture or science and technology, they don’t want to invest in the exploration of oil in Chad basin or Benue trough; They want to buy NLNG and NNPC,” Sani said.
Dangote had advised the federal government to sell the two national assets and the money ploughed into the country’s currently recessed economy. The billionaire’s recommendation has been backed by Senate President Bukola Saraki and Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, governor Godwin Emefiele.
