Suspected Boko Haram fighters shot and killed eight people after a church service in Kwamjilari village, some kilometres east of Chibok, Borno State. The attack was said to have been carried out by men on bicycles. They had opened fire on a group of worshippers who had gathered outside the church after Sunday service killing eight. They also reportedly set fire to homes in the area as well as farms with ready to be harvested maize.
“Many people ran into the bush with gunshot wounds. But so far we can only confirm eight deaths,” Vanguard quoted the local chief in Kautikeri as saying.
The chief said the military has deployed its troops to Kwamjilari from Chibok, a town the over 200 schoolgirls were abducted.
