BREAKING: House Of Reps Suspends Abdulmumin Jibrin

The Nigerian House of Representatives Wednesday suspended Abdulmumin Jibrin as its member for 180 days. Jibrin is suspended for breach of members’ privileges following his accusation of corruption against four principal officers. JIbrin had alleged Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Deputy Speaker Yusuff Lasun, Minority Leader Leo Ogor and Chief Whip Doguwa padded the 2016 budget. He was summoned, but shunned an invitation to appear before the House of Representatives’ Ethics and Privileges Committee.  Before his suspension, Jibrin addressed a press briefing on Tuesday, saying the House of Reps had been barred from suspending him while relying on a legislative rule that forbids taking any action on a litigious matter.
