Eagles’ Balogun To Miss Zambia Clash Due To Injury

By Adebayo Williams

Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun is a major doubt for the team’s clash against Zambia in a World Cup qualifier clash next Saturday. The player was injured in the early minutes  of his side, Mainz’s 3-2 loss to Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. He was withdrawn after just nine minutes.

Mainz have now confirmed that Balogun had suffered a muscle sprain, which will force him to miss the two upcoming games.

“Leon Balogun suffered a muscle strain in the first half of the Zerofivers’ home game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Saturday.

“The centre-back had to be substituted just ten minutes into the game and will miss the upcoming Europa League fixture against Gabala FC, as well as the weekend’s Bundesliga game against VfL Wolfsburg,” the side said on its website.
