Two men, Francis Okechukwu, and Ifedigbo Chinedu Lucky, 37, have stated why they engaged in cocaine business.
The man were arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Lagos State.
Report says the men were found with 700 grams of cocaine at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport during the inward screening of passengers on a Royal Air Maroc flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil through Casablanca, Morocco.
In order to evade arrest, the suspects inserted seven wraps of cocaine each weighing 350 grams into their alimentary canals.
One of the traffickers, Okechukwu, told reporters at the airport that he was forced into the illicit business by frustration, adding that his sponsors promised him N500 thousand.
He said, “I was stranded in Brazil, where I worked as a waiter in a restaurant for two years.
“My sponsor also promised to pay me half a million Naira with which I had planned to start a business.”
The second suspect, Lucky who is single and hails from Anambra state, said he had also spent two years in Brazil, while describing his arrest as ill-luck.
He said “I am a businessman. I import female shoes from Brazil since 2014. This arrest is just bad luck for me because I was already calculating my profit from the deal.”
